RushFest Princess @ 2008 Festival -- Posted 06/16/2008

The Rush County Chamber of Commerce RushFest Committee has been busy planning the 2008 Festival. New this year is the incorporation of the RushFest Princess competition. The competition is open to any Rush County teen between the ages of 13 and 15, and is intended to be a training mechanism for the Rush County Fair Queen competition held annually in conjunction with the great Rush County Fair.

Each candidate must be sponsored by a Chamber Member Business. Contestants will be required to submit a written essay, which will account for 30% of the ranking of the contestants. The topic for the essay is "Growing Up In Rush County", and should cover why Rush County is special to the contestant. Deadline for essay entry is July 25th. Contestants should contact the Rush County Chamber of Commerce to receive a list of participating Chamber Member Businesses for sponsorship. The Chamber will assist in matching the business with contestant.

On August 2nd, contestants will have 1/2 day training for the competition. The training will cover: Etiquette Class, Cosmetic Application and Self Esteem, and Interviewing Preparation and Basics.

August 16th will be the RushFest Princess Breakfast & Interview. Contestants will be ranked in the following manner: 30% on written essay, 50% interview, and 20% community involvement and leadership.
