Southeastern Indiana Agricultural Technology Park Strategic Plan

The Rush County Agricultural Roundtable Sub Committe through strategic planning and development sessions has identified a primary set of four initiatives integrated to the Southeastern Indiana Agricultural Technology Park. The primary "Four Star Initiatives" are as follows:

1. Biofuels
  • Ethanol: Development of a 100 million gallon ethanol plant in Rush County. Rush County is a prime location for this type of facility. Rush County not only boasts top 10 status in the state of Indiana for corn yields, but also has adequate transportation and infrastructure to accommodate this type of endeavor.
  • BioDiesel: Development of a biodiesel plant in Rush County or strategically located within twenty-mile radius of the core of agricultural technology park.
2. Livestock Confined Feed Lots
  • To increase and expand current hog confinement opportunities, thus increasing hog production in Rush County and the Southeastern Region of the state of Indiana.
  • To increase and expand dairy operations in Rush County and the Southeastern Region of the state of Indiana.
3. Livestock Processing/Food Processing Industries
  • To streamline processing, packaging and transportation of livestock.
  • To actively solicit food processing companies to locate to Rush County for utilization of dairy milk.
4. Research and Development
  • Rush County and the Southeastern Indiana Agricultural Technology park will house a state of the art Research and Development facility focusing on agricultural technology, such as, but not limited to:
    • Methane Gasses - utilization as a renewable fuel.
    • Stabilization of ammonia in livestock waste products, air quality control
    • By-product utilization and development form Ethanol and BioDiesel, including cutting edge research for highly profitable utilization of Carbon Dioxide, DDG, SBM, food products, and pharmaceuticals.
    • Feasibility of utilization of other natural biomass components into renewable fuels.

We, as a committee, feel that the four identified areas are a strategic fit for Rush County and the Southeastern Indiana region.
